Wedding Ceremony

We are gathered here today to unite Man and Woman in Holy matrimony.  I would like to begin with this prayer…

Marriage Prayer
"Father in heaven,
You ordained marriage for your children,
and you gave us love.
We present to You _____ and _____,
who come this day to be married.
May the covenant of love they make be blessed
with true devotion and spiritual commitment.
We ask that You, God,
will give them the ability to keep the covenant they have made.
When selfishness shows itself, grant generosity;
when mistrust is a temptation, give moral strength;
when there is misunderstanding, give patience and gentleness;
if suffering becomes a part of their lives,
give them a strong faith and an abiding love.
Amen.

Man and Woman, the vows you are about to take are not to be taken without careful thought. For in them you are committing yourselves exclusively one to the other for as long as you both shall live. This love is not to be diminished by difficult circumstances.

"(Man), do you take (Woman) to be your wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

Man answers, "I do."

Notary asks the woman, "(Woman), do you take (Man) to be your husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, to honor him, to comfort him, and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

Woman answers, "I do."

Please face each other

"Repeat after me."

To the man: "I, (Man), take you (Woman), to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part."

To the woman: "I, (Woman), take you (Man), to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part."

The vows you have just taken, pledging love,
Mean far more than words can ever mean.
May their gentle spirit in you move.

May your years fulfill the beauty of
The feelings whose expression we've just seen,
The vows that you have taken, pledging love.

And may you always put these vows above
The things that make life smaller and more mean.
May their gentle spirit in you move.

May your children know the power of
These words to shape a world that's sane and clean,
These vows that you have taken, pledging love.

Exchange of Rings    get your rings out

I would like to have engraved inside every wedding band: Be kind to one another. This is the golden rule of marriage and the secret of making love last through the years

(Man) Place the ring on (Woman’s) finger and repeat after me, "I give you this ring as a token and pledge of our constant faith and abiding love."

(Woman,) Place the ring on (Man’s) finger and repeat after me, "I give you this ring as a token and pledge of our constant faith and abiding love."

Pronouncement

Notary asks the couple to join hands, then declares, "By virtue of the authority vested in me under the laws of the State of Florida, I now pronounce you husband and wife."

To the man: "You may kiss the bride."

Introducing, (Man and Wife)
